Former VP Atiku Abubakar wins the PDP presidential primary

On Saturday, May 28, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election.

In the poll, held at the Moshood Kashimawo Abiola Stadium’s velodrome complex in Abuja, the 75-year-old congressman defeated 12 other candidates.

He garnered 371 votes, beating out Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, who received 237 votes, and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, who received 70 votes to finish third.

Sokoto state governor Aminu Tambuwal resigned during the election.
