NASS passes Bill to empower it to summon president, governors over security concerns

NASS will be able to summon the president of Nigeria and state governors with the help of a bill that has been passed by the National Assembly to amend the second schedule of the 1999 constitution.

The bill was sponsored by Sergius Ogun (PDP–Edo). Both the Senate and House of Assembly have the constitutional authority to invite the president and governors for questioning.

The bill was passed on Tuesday during plenary on Tuesday with 305 “Ayes” surpassing and 3 “Nays”.
