Ocean City Lagos

On Friday, Ocean City, described as Africa’s first green and smart city, was inaugurated in Lagos State.

In an event attended by prominent Nigerians from all walks of life, the project which aims to revolutionize Africa’s center of commerce was inaugurated in Victoria Island, Lagos.

The program was attended by a former Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Bode Rhodes-Vivour; Adewunmi Osagie, Managing Director of Ocean City Lagos; Michael Olawale-Cole, the President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Seun Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo; and Mike Ozhekhome, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Osagie said some of the best development experts in the world would be working on the project to ensure the safety of Lagosians and Nigerians by extension.

She also stated that the idea was borne out of emerging global trends in urban development, and that the island, when completed, would set the benchmark for real estate development in Africa and beyond.

She said, “We live in an ever-changing world with increasing demands for futuristic solutions. The definition of luxury has now shifted, with rising expectations of quality standards in premium and innovative living.”

“We identified this gap and as a company, we are now on a mission to not only bridge that gap but leave a mark while at it.”

“This city, our city, Ocean City Lagos, will not only break records but become a blueprint for real estate in Africa and ultimately a beloved destination for tourists all over the world.”

Ocean City Island, located on 308 hectares reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean, will have Africa’s tallest skyscraper among its many attractions. As well as luxury residences, trend-setting commercial hubs, luxurious neighborhoods, top notch medical facilities, and a wide range of amenities for sports, arts and entertainment, all found in a single eco-friendly neighborhood that offers a livability index that is similar to those found in such places in the most developed parts of the world.

Promoted by Ocean City Lagos Limited, an affiliate of real sector big player, Sea Global Energy, Ocean City Lagos is a trailblazing project developed to weld lavish architecture, daring engineering, environmental sensitivity and avant-garde infrastructure with futuristic recreational facilities. Sea Global Energy, which has operated unblemished in Nigeria for 43 years, was granted a reclamation permission for 350 hectares from the Atlantic Ocean by the Federal Government in 2003.
